It is my pleasure to welcome you to this new magazine on Technology, AI and Ethics. We aim to tackle the important questions of our time: what will humanity look like in the future to come? How will technological progress and the rise of AI shape our self perception and our social interactions?
We will be debating these questions with internationally renowned experts from all fields including: technology, industry, the humanities, ethics, and philosophy. We wish to engage with practitioners and theorists, thereby having the human in the center of the mind. That is because we believe that accelerating progress and technological advancement should only have one purpose: to serve humanity, to make ourselves, and our conviviality with one another better.
As we have seen in the emergence of the new digital era this is not a given. We may aim to build better societies but on the way we face crucial ethical questions: how do we make AI responsible? Can we outsource ethical decision making to algorithms? How would doing this change ourselves as beings with moral agency? The list of questions is endless so we will not run out of work any time soon here at www.conditiohumana.io.
Personally, I am super excited, proud, and happy about this new task as editor-in-chief of this new outlet. Being the founder and former editor-in-chief of the debate magazine The European I know how important discourse is in order to reach a consensus about pivotal topics regarding our future. My work on narratives of identity, among them the narratives of work in the age of AI, automatisation and machine learning, that I had the pleasure of working on at such prestigious institutions such as Harvard University in the United States and Cambridge University in England, has led me to think deeper and share the insights with a wider public that we hope to attract with this new magazine.
Thanks for tuning in, we hope you will be enjoying the articles and interviews of www.conditiohumana.io.
